Local students have a chance to win the ultimate party

A new online contest that tests students’ knowledge of college will lead to one high school winning a great party this spring.

The contest, Win the Ultimate Party, which was launched today, quizzes students about the importance of a college education.

The high school with the highest percentage of its student body successfully completing the quiz will win a year-end party complete with three DJs (hip hop, house and techno, and electronica), music, food, games and door prizes.

“Students in our region will definitely want to take part in this contest,” said Canadore College President George Burton. “They can to win free stuff while learning the benefits of a college education.”

The contest is being run by Colleges Ontario, the advocacy organization for the province’s public colleges.

The contest is part of the sector’s long-term marketing efforts to encourage parents and students to learn more about the 600 programs offered at Ontario’s 24 public colleges and the careers available to their graduates.

The Win the Ultimate Party contest quizzes students on everything from the types of programs available to the number of graduates produced each year.

It includes clues to help students do well on the test and learn more about higher education. The contest runs until March 31.

Last year, Colleges Ontario ran a contest that attracted more than 30,000 unique hits to the website.

As a result, the band Down with Webster performed a private concert at Malvern Collegiate in Toronto.

Even in this difficult economy, 83 per cent of college graduates find work within six months of graduation, and more than 90 per cent of employers are satisfied with the graduates they hired.

“Canadore graduates have leading-edge career opportunities available to them,” said Burton. “This contest will help students realize that college is the perfect choice to learn the advanced skills they need for employment in the new knowledge economy.”
