It's all over at Noon today

It is down to the wire for the gang at Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre.

It is down to the wire for the gang at Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre.

As the only Northern Ontario entry left in the competition the gang is struggling to make it to one of the top ten finalists in the AVIVA Community Fund Competition and it all comes to an end at noon today.

Once the online voting ends today at noon the semi-finals who make it to the finals they are judged solely on their merit.

You can help put these kids into the top by voting one more time this morning.

To vote you need to be registered but it only takes a minute. First go to http://www.avivacommunityfund.org once on the page click "How to Register to VOTE" on the right and follow the instructions to get yourself set up.

The following are great reasons to vote this morning:

Dreamcoat Means Happiness

Dreamcoat means happiness to me. It means happiness because you are always having fun with the singing and dancing. When I am singing I feel happy and when I am dancing I feel happy. I think that people who have joined Dreamcoat and people who are going to join Dreamcoat will feel the same thing as me because that is the true power of Dreamcoat.

What Dreamcoat Does For You!

Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre is very fun and important to me and everyone else for many reasons. For one, it builds lots of confidence in children and is a great place to make friends. Everyone gets to dress up in costumes and get their makeup done before they go onstage and perform in front of many people. There are lots of practices, and we learn something new everyday. For example, this year we get to play kazoos! That will be fun for everyone! We perform for schools and adults, so for kids that did not have the chance to be in the play get to watch the end result. It also keeps older kids out of trouble!

In other words, Dreamcoat makes great theatre productions and is lots of fun!!!

My Favourite Part of Dreamcoat

My favourite part of Dreamcoat is the end... but I don’t mean that the way it sounds! It is so gratifying to have worked for months and then taking the final curtain call. The absolute best part is after you’ve put in extra hours as a lead and get to take one of the last bow: by yourself or with only one or two people. It’s impossible not to smile with a full house cheering and applauding. Dreamcoat has been great for me. It wasn’t until “The Wizard of Oz” (When I was 9) that I discovered that I had an above average voice. Then, with my lead in a spring play (“There’s a Monster in My Closet”) I got a chance to shine. (I’ve had some great parts since and have had lots of fun!) I’ve gotten dozen of compliments on my singing voice in my performances and school talent shows. I always tell people it was Dreamcoat that taught me to sing. Not only did I find my voice in Dreamcoat but some amazing people as well. I admire Dreamcoat kids/staff for their sense of humour and artistic talents. They are all unique and I have made friendships with people I never would have met without Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre.

Dreamcoat means to me...

Dreamcoat means acting, singing and dancing! It’s all about fun and confidence. There are costumes, cast parties, rehearsals, dress rehearsals, sets, props, music and lights. That means there’s lots to do! I can’t think of anything else, can you? When I think of the word Dreamcoat it reminds me of a cool name for some chocolate covered almonds... Sweet outside yet still bitter inside...!! Dreamcoat means love and laughter. It’s like a whole new world on stage! It’s a new “home sweet home” just for you!! You meet new friends... and old ones again and again, when you return to Dreamcoat year after year. There’s alot to bring to rehearsal so remember your gear! Your script, water bottle, pencil and a snack! Don’t forget to pack! There’s lots to learn either in singing, dancing and acting. I remember learning all the versions to 12345, 54321 or... As one Pig Porker popped up the Pole the other Pig Porker popped down (singing warm-ups)! Or all those push-ups and jumping jacks (dance warm-ups)! All those weren’t for nothing!! Remembering your lines takes alot of practice. So just try, try and try again! There are lots of friends and family to encourage you to go on! And there are lots of people to help you try to be the best... The director, dance and singing instructors, producer, stage manager, costume designer, prop designed, set crew, parent volunteers and thanks to all the rest. You CAN be the best! The excitement before your first show is something that can’t be written down. Your hands get clammy, you sweat a little but you can’t make a frown! When the huge red curtains open... your heart beats twice as fast, the audience roars and all you can do is sing and dance! At last Dreamcoat fantasy theatre means alot to me and hopefully one day it might be just as important to you... Like it is to me, as you can obviously see!!!
