Health Unit: Two hospitalized in retirement home outbreak

Four cases from the Barclay House outbreak are considered resolved

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has updated its COVID-19 dashboard. The outbreak declared Nov. 3 at the Chartwell Barclay House Retirement Residence now includes 36 active cases.

According to the Health Unit, as of Monday afternoon, two people associated with the outbreak at Barclay House are in the hospital. Of the 36 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 associated with the outbreak, 32 people are residents, three are staff and one was a visitor.

Four of the individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 associated with the outbreak are considered resolved.

In the district, the Health Unit reports no new active cases in the Monday afternoon update. There are 42 active cases in North Bay–Parry Sound with the two from Barclay House in the hospital.

Of the district's cases, 76 per cent are associated with the Barclay House outbreak, 17 per cent are classified as the close contact of a case, 6 per cent are deemed to be "community."

The breakdown of cases by age group shows 52 per cent in the 80 and over category, 21 per cent age 60–79, 15 per cent 40–59, 6 per cent 20–39, and 4 per cent are 19 and younger.
