The province sent out a sincere thank you to all the local frontline workers and businesses that are operating during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MPP Vic Fedeli pointed out several local efforts during Thursday's economic recovery readiness webinar hosted by the city.

"Our pals at the New Ontario Brewing Company who are producing sanitizer," said Fedeli.

"They are hiring 20 people for processing shifts, and they're looking to pump out 2,000 bottles a day.  I know when you go to Shoppers Drug Mart you can see their product as soon as you walk in the door.

"Giant Tiger on Lakeshore, thanks Sean Wilson, offering medical scrubs at a discount for front-line workers, Giant Tiger corporate made a big donation of masks to the national effort."

Fedeli recognized others such as Parker's Independent Grocer, Tim Horton's, Greco's Pizza on Algonquin and the Davedi Club; all businesses which are bringing food to front line workers.

He also pointed out that customer donations to Bay Truck Stop are helping to pay for showers and take-out food for truck drivers.

Fedeli says those are just a few of the many examples locally.

"These companies bring out the best of Ontario's spirit and certainly the spirit within North Bay," he says.
