Emergency crews on scene of fatal airplane crash in West Nipissing

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and will be conducting the investigation of the crash

The West Nipissing Police Service, the West Nipissing Fire Service and the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an airplane crash at approximately 12:45 p.m. today.

Callers advised police that a plane crashed and dark smoke could be seen in the Kipling area of West Nipissing. Emergency crews are on scene to combat the fire and investigate the incident.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and will be conducting the investigation of the crash.

Update:

  • Police remain on the scene of the plane crash at this time. 
  • The fire has been contained by fire services.
  • Police confirm that this is a fatal aviation crash. 
  • No identification is being provided until police have had an opportunity to notify next of kin.
  • This is an active investigation.
