Cops believe they've solved Bonfield crime spree

North Bay OPP have charged a Bonfield man after investigating several incidents since February in that community.

On February 4, officers received a call about someone failing to pay for gas from a business in Bonfield.

On March 11, they received a call about a possible stolen vehicle. Officers began an investigation and found a side-by-side that had been stolen from Jocko Point, Nipissing First Nation, in 2018.

On March 29,  police conducted an investigation and found that the accused had driven a vehicle while suspended and prohibited. 

On April 4, police received a call about a vehicle in Bonfield. When officers located the vehicle, they found that the plates and validation had been altered. 

As a result of these multiple police investigations, Neville Wright, 48, of Bonfield, has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Operations while prohibited
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Use an altered plate
  • Use an altered validation
  • Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension

Wright has been released on a summons' to attend court at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
