It was much longer than he had hoped but Battalion forward Brandon Coe finally saw his name called.  In the 2020 NHL Entry Draft the San Jose Sharks selected Coe 98th overall in the fourth round of the unique event.

It was originally scheduled to take place in Montreal at the Bell Centre in June but was transformed into an online draft this week due to COVID-19.

“Great accomplishment for Brandon and his family," stated Adam Dennis, Battalion GM.

"We are thrilled for him. The San Jose Sharks are getting a great person and player.”

Some scouts have compared Brandon Coe to the likes of Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman noting the 6'3" right-winger has a "good combination of size, skating and skill."

The former third overall OHL draft selection by the Battalion in 2017 was rated 35th for North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting.

Coe was projected by many to become the highest-drafted North Bay Battalion player ever; unseating former defender Cameron Dineen who was selected in the third round, 68th overall by the Arizona Coyotes back in 2016.

Coe netted 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points in 60 games in the COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 season.
