Social distancing during the pandemic is a must.

City police are giving the residents of North Bay and Callander a pat on the back today, saying compliance with the stay-at-home order has been positive.

"It has been a week since we have been asked to comply with a provincial lockdown," says spokesman John Schultz. "Police continue to receive calls with regards to the Covid 19 pandemic. Some of the calls deal with questions and not understanding what is required. There is still an educational component to what the police are doing."

Since the lockdown was announced police confirm that they have issued warnings in two complaints that they investigated, and laid one charge for ‘Failing to Comply’ with the Reopening Ontario Act. That person got hit with a ticket for $880.

“We are in a health crisis. We continue to support our health care system with the same message. Stay at home, only leave for essential activities and limit person-to-person contact to your immediate household," says Inspector Jeff Warner, who oversees the Operations Section.

"If you choose to disregard the regulations put into effect to support our health care, police options include enforcement.”

Schultz suggests the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit website is an excellent resource for Covid 19 pandemic and provincial lockdown information.
