Bell phones are out of service in Bonfield Update

Bell Canada reports telephone service has been restored to the Bonfield area.

Bell Canada reports it is experiencing technical difficulty with telephone lines in the Bonfield area. Approximately 1300 households are affected and without telephone service. These homes and businesses have no access to 911 emergency services. The O.P.P. has activated their emergency back up service.

Residents affected by this outage may still call 911 from a cellular telephone as cell service is not affected by the outage. They may also attend the Bonfield fire hall located at 107 Railway St. in Bonfield where fire and police personnel are stationed and will respond to emergencies.

The Ontario Provincial Police have officers patrolling the immediate area to respond to requests for emergency services.

Bell Canada is working to correct the problem.
