The class collected over 900 books during February for a province-wide program entitled The Lieutenant Governor's Book Program, initiated by the Honourable James Bartleman, Ontario's Lieutenant Governor.

This program centers around the collection of new or gently used books to help stock school libraries serving First Nations communities in Northern Ontario.

Cst. Tass, of the North Bay OPP detachment, has been responsible for collecting books locally and transporting them to Orillia for further processing. He has brought four truckloads of books to the OPP headquarters and over a million books have been reported collected to date.
