This "Knight" has no armour, but is still a champion for others in both his work and his volunteer roles

I think North Bay and surrounding areas have some of the most generous people and businesses in Canada.

Trevor Knight has a passion for helping others - he's been doing it for 30 years.

Talk to Trevor Knight and you'll learn he has a passion for seeing others live their best lives.

It's why he got into the work he does with Community Living North Bay, where he works as "Manager of the Supported Independent Living Program, ensuring people get the best possible supports they require."

Knight has been there long enough to see many people benefit from the services of Community Living, saying he's about to hit a milestone, and it's "soon to be 30 years, I was hired March 27th, 1990."

He's reluctant to talk about himself, saying there are many co-workers or volunteers he interacts with that do as much as he does or more.

But, if you're persistent you'll learn he does love volunteering for work-related fundraisers and other good causes in North Bay and area.

"In my career, I've been involved with many team fundraisers either due to my direct involvement with my kid's teams or Special Olympics program to help offset the cost for those that may not have been able to participate otherwise.  I also love helping at Voyager Inn Ribfest, numerous Community Living Fundraisers like the Smile Cookie Campaign, Spring Fling, to name a few," he adds.

Still, there are a few special memories that make him smile.

"Some of the most gratifying events that I was part of include shaving my head in assisting two athletes to attend the Canadian Special Olympics Championship in Vancouver, plus Rockin for Ryker - support for a child's medical treatment - and assisting a man in the renovations of an apartment so that he could live independently, adds Knight.

Currently, he's planning on helping some upcoming events where proceeds will go directly to funding the non-profit efforts of Community Living.

"I'm a big supporter of the Community Living Outcomes Fund Program. We host numerous events throughout the year and all proceeds go directly to assisting those we support to purchase and do things that they may not normally be able to do on their own."

Knight also credits the community for being one that has a huge heart when it comes to chipping in to help others.

"I think North Bay and surrounding areas have some of the most generous people and businesses in Canada. There are so many worthy causes and it really shows when so many events are so successful.
I've got so many family members and lifelong friends that have supported anything that I get involved with and it's so humbling to have met and become friends with all those that have donated to the many causes I support. I couldn't do it without them and I want to thank each and every one of them," he adds with a smile.
