Former North Bay Skyhawks Captain Quinn Waller has inked a professional hockey contract with the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.

Waller, just wrapped up a memorable 4 years of NCAA Hockey with the Adrian College Bulldogs, who captured the NCAA Division III national title earlier this year.

The 25-year-old Windsor native patrolled the blue line for the Skyhawks from 2004 to 2006.

“Getting a player who has captained the last two programs he’s played for - one of which he led to a championship - speaks volumes about the type of character we are getting,” said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell on the Mallards team website.

“Quinn is a puck moving D-man who is very responsible in his own end."

In addition to his commitment to play in the CHL, Waller will also skate in the September pre-season training camp for the Greenville Road Warriors (South Carolina) of the East Coast league. Greenville is a farm team of the New York Rangers (NHL) and the Connecticut Whalers of the American Hockey League.
