Three North Bay Battalion players will be joining NHL prospect teams at the 17th annual Traverse City Prospects Tournament taking place September 11th through 15th at the twin pad Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Michigan.

All three players will join their respective NHL teams as undrafted invitee’s.

Battalion goaltender Jake Smith and forward Zach Bratina have been invited to play with the New York Rangers in the 8-team event.   Meantime, forward Brett McKenzie will be joining the Chicago Blackhawks prospects team at the five-day event.

The 20-year-old Smith is coming of a fabulous season where he played in 56 games along with an impressive 28 wins.  He is expected to be a workhorse for the Battalion this upcoming season too.

Mckenzie netted 11 goals along with 21 assists, good for 32 points last season for the Troops. He went undrafted in his first year of eligibility for the National Hockey League Draft this past June.

Other NHL prospect teams represented at the event include the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Columbus Blue Jackets. Carolina Hurricanes and the host Detroit Red Wings.
