Voodoos head to Huntsville for tough pre-season test

The Powassan Voodoos have been approved to play an Inter-league CJHL pre-season game against the Kingston Voyageurs this weekend, the club announced on Wednesday evening.

The Powassan Voodoos have been approved to play an Inter-league CJHL pre-season game against the Kingston Voyageurs this weekend, the club announced on Wednesday evening.

The Voyageurs, who play in the Ontario Junior 'A' Hockey League, will play the Voodoos at the beautiful Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville.

The two junior A clubs will face-off at 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 30th.

The Voyageurs are coached by former Mattawa Blackhawks head coach Taurean White.

"It was a real challenge trying to find games this pre-season but we really appreciate Voyageurs GM Peter Goulet for making this happen in such short notice.  It's a long haul for the Voyageurs but I think collectively our organization is excited and is looking forward to competing against a first class team like the Vees," said Voodoos GM Chris Dawson.

Area hockey fans interested in making the trip to Huntsville should be reminded access to the arena will need to be made coming from the west end of town due to a triathlon.

The Voodoos, who have held their training camp in North Bay this summer, expect to move into the Powassan Sportsplex permanently on September 8th.
