The month of June proved to be a busy one for the North Bay Titans swim team as the local team attended five meets.

The Titans attended the Jeno Tihanyi Long Course Championship meet the weekend of June 5-8 in Sudbury. Eleven-year-old Ryan Tom secured top spot in 5 of his 6 swims while swimming best times in the 100m butterfly and the 50m freestyle events.

Titans also in attendance and earning personal best times were Steve Cholette, Evan Kilroy, Brody Marietti, Alexis Mitchell, Jillian O'Donnell, Ayden Ryk, Megan Tom and Jenna Wall.

Ryan Tom and Evan Kilroy (13) qualified for and attended the 2015 Swim Ontario 13 and Under Summer Festival in London June 27th and 28th.  This meet is a provincial level meet that gathered top swimmers from across the province.  Tom swam to a bronze medal in the 100m breast stroke, while also bringing home a fourth place finish in the 200m breast stroke and the 200m butterfly.  Tom improved his times by 17 seconds and 10 seconds respectively to earn the fourth place finishes.

"I knew I needed to focus and concentrate on my six events and use my practice skills and knowledge that I was taught all season from my coach Sam Crossley," explains Tom about his results.

Meanwhile, Kilroy made best times in all 4 of his events most notably in the 200m breast stroke where he shaved 10.75 seconds off his previous personal best time.

"I was happy with my performance of having personal best times in all my events," said Kilroy.  "

These new times have allowed me to realize that I can set higher goals for next season. This meet was great experience to test my swimming skills against the top swimmers in the Province."

On the same weekend, Steve Cholette (21) swam at the Quebec Cup held in Montreal.  This meet invited top senior swimmers to compete against national and international caliber athletes. Cholette qualified for this meet in the 50m freestyle, 50m breast stroke, 100m breast stroke and 200m breast stroke events.

Megan Tom (14) qualified for and attended the 2015 Provincial Long Course Championship in Nepean, Ontario July 2nd - 5th.  At this meet, Megan swam in the 100m and 200m butterfly events and the 100m freestyle.

The Titans also travelled to Collingwood, Ontario to compete in the Collingwood Clippers Invitational swim meet.  This was a well attended meet that wrapped up the season for most Titans swimmers. Congratulations to all the Titans swimmers for a fun and rewarding season.
