North Bay's Dominique Bouchard finished just outside of the medals today in the 100 M backstroke final at the Pan Am Games.

Bouchard, who came in seeded second after the preliminaries, finished with a time of 1:00:54, which was just slightly behind American Clara Smiddy who captured Bronze with a time of 1:00:49.

Bouchard's teammate Hilary Caldwell finished just behind her for a disappointing fifth place finish with a time of 1:01:01.

Brazil's Etiene Medeiros took home Gold with a time of 59.61.

Caldwell and Bouchard shared the podium winning Gold and Silver respectively for Canada in the 200 M backstroke final on Wednesday.

Bouchard will have one more opportunity for a Pan Am medal as she is expected to swim in the 4 x 100 M Medley for Canada's relay team Saturday afternoon.

Canada is considered a favourite in the event.
