It appears Stan Butler may be coaching against one of his young and promising players this summer.

U.S. defenceman Cam Dineen, who recently signed with the Battalion for the upcoming season, has been chosen for the U.S. Under-18 Select team which will compete August 10th to 15 at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia.

Stan Butler, the Battalion Head Coach and Director of Operations, was named last week as Head Coach for Canada’s Under-18 team which Battalion forward Zach Poirier and prospect Cameron Morrison will be trying out for at an early August Under-18 Camp in Calgary.

Dineen, a puck moving defenceman who turned 17 on June 19th, was an 11-round selection of the Troops in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection from the New Jersey Rockets Under-19 team.

The six-foot, 176-pound product of Toms River, N.J., played 39 games last season with the Rockets’ Eastern Hockey League entry, scoring 11 goals and earning 30 assists for 41 points with eight penalty minutes.

Prior to signing with the Battalion, Dineen had a commitment to play NCAA Division One hockey with Yale University.
