This summer, North Bay native and PhD candidate, Cassidy Preston, is offering a sport psychology workshop for elite athletes. The workshop is intended for athletes that have the mental maturity for self-reflection and a strong desire to improve their athletic performance through the mental side of the game. The workshop will cover the mindsets, perspectives, and mental tools required for elite performance. The workshop will develop life skills that participants will use in sport and life. Participants can expect to:

- Enhance mental toughness

- Develop control over one’s confidence

- Build mental habits to increase performance

- Create a goal setting plan to increase focus and performance

- Decrease their feelings of anxiety and fear of failure; thus, decreasing choking performances

- Increase their enjoyment from sport and their ability to consistently perform at their potential

Athletes may range from 11 to 18+ years of age. Parents and coaches are welcomed and encouraged to attend; both play a large role in the development of every athlete’s mindset. As such, they can attend for free with their child’s registration and sit at the back. There is also a parent or coach registration option if your child is not attending. Note that Cassidy’s background is in hockey, but that he has experience consulting with athletes from other sports as well.

Dates and Times:

The workshop includes six 1.5 hour sessions:
July 27th – Monday. 6:30-8 pm.
July 29th – Wednesday. 6:30-8 pm.
August 4th – Tuesday. 6:30-8 pm.
August 5th – Wednesday. 6:30-8 pm.
August 10th – Monday. 6:30-8 pm.
August 12th – Wednesday. 6:30-8 pm.

Location: The Board Room at Pete Palangio Arena

Costs:

  • $125 per athlete. Includes workshop booklet. Parents are encourage to attend for free and sit at the back of the room.
  • $80 per parent or coach with no child registration. Includes workshop booklet.


Missed Sessions:
If a participant misses a session they will be provided with an audio recording of the missed session.
