Thunderbirds find success at late season meet

The CFB North Bay Thunderbirds soared at the Fred Rams Championships swim meet this past weekend. This short course event draws select competitive swimmers from clubs across the North East.

Leading the team was Hailey Passmore who pulled 4 Gold Medals in individual events, other top 3 performances were achieved by Cole Paralovos who brought home a Silver and a Bronze medal, and Madeline Tanner who clinched a bronze medal in her 200 Backstroke event.
 
Top 8 honours were achieved by Annika Lainevool, Meghan Norman, Jaiden Paralovos, Peyton Paralovos and Regan Passmore, while Emilia Lainevool, and Ryleigh paralovos kicked to multiple personal best swims.
 
Thunderbirds Banquet
 
The CT-33 Thunderbird Swim Club hosted its annual end of season banquet and awards ceremony this past Wednesday, awards were presented by Coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Hillar Lainevool, and Ray Picco.
 
Riley Periard and Trael Daly Stevens came away with the top female and male competitive swimmers of the year.  Daly Stevens was also presented with a Provincial Time Achiever award for the season.
 
Hailey Passmore was the winner of the Top Swimmer/Top Fina High Points Trophy, having achieved the highest FINA points in two events.  
 
Cole Paralovos took the Most Improved Swimmer Award, while the Top First Year swimming awards went to Annika Lainevool and Drew Sinclair.
 
The Coaches Award, presented to the swimmers who demonstrate a high level of dedication and commitment to swimming was presented to Leah Chirico and Jillian Picco.
 
The 2015 age category awards went to Peyton Paralovos for the Top 10 & Under swimmer, Rachelle Ouellette for the Top 11 & 12 swimmer, Jesse Hammond for the Top 13 & 14 swimmer, and Michael Denomme for the Top 15 & Over.  Swimmers are selected for these awards based on performance and commitment.  Denomme also took home the Jenifer Duguay Award for Team Spirit and Leadership.
 
Two awards were presented to high performing fundraisers on the team,  Olivia Trottier received the Individual Award, while Emilia and Annika Lainevool were presented with the Family Award.
 
Finally CT-33 Thunderbird Swim Club President Shelby deBernard presented the Paula Palangio award to Sylvie Venditti the award is bestowed upon the volunteer with exemplary service and commitment to the swim club.
 
Congratulations to all swimmers, volunteers and coaches for a great 2014-2015 season.
 
The Thunderbirds final competition of the season will be the Jeno Tihanyi Long Course Championships (NEOR/HURONIA Regions)  being held June 5th-7th. The meet is being hosted by the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club at the Jeno Tihanyi Olympic Gold Pool.
