North Bay Ultimate is once again hosting the Northern Flights Ultimate Tournament.  Co-ed teams from across Ontario have signed up once again to enjoy the sights, sounds and great Ultimate in North Bay.

This year the event will take place at several fields throughout the city, with the main location at Veteran’s field.

Ultimate is a self-refereed game base on a unique principle known as "Spirit of the Game" that emphasizes respect for fellow players and fair play from the recreational level to highest levels of competition. The game incorporates the open playing field of soccer, the pivoting and aerial athleticism of basketball and the guarding and passing excitement of football.

The sport is played with a 175 gram disc that can be thrown with precision and power. Today, Ultimate is recognized amongst the fastest growing sports in both North America and around the world.

The true uniqueness of this tournament is the inclusion of the "North Bay Rule," that being, if you catch the disc in the end zone behind your back (below your neck to the ground, not behind the neck or head) then the goal is worth two points instead of the typical one point.

The event is free for spectators and we welcome and encourage the local community to come out and witness some of the greatest amateur athletes in the throes of the highest level of competition.

Many thanks to our local sponsors, Rebuilt Resources, City of North Bay and the Fox and Fiddle. Who have, once again, have supported us in order to help make this event a success. June 10th is the deadline to enter a team, so contact the Tournament Director Erin Fitzgerald at [email protected].
