Close to 20 players congregated at the Circle Lake rink for the second annual Circle Lake Classic organized by parents in the Birchaven neighbourhood.

It's the second year for the fun ball hockey game which took place Saturday afternoon.

"It's a fun event for the neighbourhood kids and they love ball hockey," said organizer Angie Boulet.

Boulet added it was a perfect time for the ball hockey event, as the Youth Ball Hockey League doesn't schedule any games on the Victoria Day Weekend.

There were a few bruised knees but the young players had a fun afternoon in almost perfect conditions.

Of course afterwards all the players enjoyed a popsicle and a cupcake to celebrate an afternoon of fun.

The Circle Lake location is ideal for ball hockey as it is one of the only outdoor rinks in the city with an asphalt floor.
