Former North Bay Battalion defenceman Dylan Blujus has been called up to the Tampa Bay Lightning along with 8 of his teammates from the Syracuse Crunch.

The 6’3, 205 pound Buffalo, NY product recorded 4 goals and 18 assists for 22 points in his rookie season with the Crunch in the American Hockey League this season.

Last week the Lightning affiliate team dropped its Eastern Conference quarter-final series to the Wilkes-Barre/Scanton Penguins in three straight in the best-of-five series.

Blujus, drafted in the second round, 40th overall, by the Lightning in 2012, was a key part of the Battalion defence which went to the OHL final in 2014, for the first time since 2009.

The Lightning lead the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series.

Game three of that series takes place Wednesday night in Tampa Bay.
