Medal Haul for Gymtrix

Gymnasts from North Bay Gymtrix Girls and Boys teams competed this past weekend in Sudbury at the Annual Gymzone Raise the Bar Challenge. The competition attracted over 300 athletes from various Ontario clubs.

Gymnasts from North Bay Gymtrix Girls and Boys teams competed this past weekend in Sudbury at the Annual Gymzone Raise the Bar Challenge. The competition attracted over 300 athletes from various Ontario clubs. All together, the Gymtrix team brought home 67 medals resulting from podium finishes.

On the Womens side, six gymnasts hit the top of the podium in the Overall rankings (all event scores combined) in their respective categories.  Emily Mah (Level 5 – 12 years), Victoria Desfosses (Level 6 – 13 years), Adelaide Mitchell (Level 4 - 11 years), Claire Cousineau (Level 4 – 10 years), Vanessa Perrault (Level 4 - 10 years) and Tessa Tripodi (Level 4 – 9 years) all brought home the overall Gold medal after winning medals on all four events.

Overall Silver medals came home with Rebecca Hubley (Level 6 – 14 +), Holli Armstrong (Level 5 -11 years) and Tihana Draves (Level 6 - 13 years). Cloe Surette was the Overall Bronze winner in the Level 4 – 11 years division.

Claiming the Silver medal on an event were Katie Robertson (Level 6 – 14+) for Vault, Jesslynn Emms (Level 6 – 14+) for Floor Exercise and Kaylee Tench (Level 4 – 10 years) for Uneven Bars.

Winning an event Bronze medal on Uneven Bars were Nora Roberts (Level 4 – 14+) and Koral Tench (Level 4 – 10 years). On Floor Exercise, Emma Robertson (Level 5 – 11 years) and Ella Tripodi (Level 4 -11 years) also claimed a Bronze medal.

In a tough group of Level 6 athletes, Kate Mah was 4th Overall and Avery Newman was 5th Overall

Maeve Blake and Macey Smith competed in the 8 year old Level 4 division and received the Overall Merit award for having a score that falls within a designated range.

Olivia Popp performed in the Showcase division on the competition.

In the boys competition, Jack Mah was the Overall Gold medalist in the Level 3 Interclub category. He won individual Gold medals on Pommel Horse and Parallel Bars and Silvers on Floor, Rings, Vault and High Bar.

Team-mate Jo-zef Mattieu was the Overall Bronze medal winner in the Level 2 Interclub division. He received Silver medals on Floor, Pommel Horse, Vault and High Bar. Mattieu also brought home a Bronze medal for his performance on Parallel Bars.

The team is coached by Tara Alger, Robyn Grigg, Erin Grigg, Marc Pilon, Nicki Chretien and Bill Rhoads.
