The North Bay Bantam B ICE BOLTZ took part at the OWHA Provincial Championships over the weekend.
With 6 pools and a total of 24 teams in their division the girls first game was against the Smiths Falls Cubs.
The Boltz came out strong and jumped to a 2-0 lead only to have the Cubs tie it the game at 2-2. But the Boltz came out with a great 3rd period and were able to score two goals to take the game 4-2.
Game 2 put the Ice Boltz up against the South Huron Sabres. With a solid defensive game and great goaltending the Boltz came away with a 2-0 victory.
Game 3 was against the Markham-Stouffville Stars. With the game not meaning anything to the Stars they gave the Boltz everything they could handle but in the end the girls were able to come away with another 2-0 win.
The 3 wins were enough to give the Boltz a much deserved bye to the quarter finals.
In that Quarter-final game the Ice Boltz went up against the Halimand Rivercats. With Semi-finals and a chance to play for a medal the line the BOLTZ came out flying and never stopped on their way to a 3-0 win.
Off to the Semis against a very tough South Point Stars team. With great goaltending the game stay tied at 0-0 until 4 mins left in the 3rd when South Point scored on the power play to make it 1-0.
The Ice Boltz battled hard to try and tie it at 1 but fell short and lost the game 1-0.
Going into the Bronze medal game the girls were not going to be denied a medal.
The North Bay girls bounced back from the heart break of the 1-0 loss earlier in the day to skate away with a 4-0 win and a well deserved Bronze medal.
