For 2 days North Bay hockey fans were able to take a peak at 100 years of history courtesy of the Hockey Canada Century Tour which set up in front of Memorial Gardens on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 20,000-square-foot interactive hockey experience caravan is visiting approximately 100 communities across Canada as part of Hockey Canada's Century Tour to commemorate its 100th anniversary.  North Bay was the second last tour stop in Ontario.

The trailer was full of hockey history including game worn Team Canada hockey jerseys from the likes of Bobby Orr to the Lucky Loonie put underneath the ice at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002 where both the Women and Men captured Hockey Gold.

“Everyone who comes out to see the century tour by all of the history that we have on display and I think one of the most interesting things we’ve experienced in every single community we visit is every single Canadian hockey fan comes out and they have their own hockey story to tell,” said Hockey Canada Century Tour’s Charlotte Coulson.

“We have the little kids who come out and they like to tell us where they were in the gold medal game in Sochi and they think its really cool that they can sit in a replica locker stall that team Canada had over in Russia or we have some of the older fans who tell us stories perhaps about meeting one of the great hockey players from year’s past.”

The tour also honoured Ice Boltz hockey coach Denyse Lafrance Horning as its Canadian Tire Hero of Play.

Hockey Canada has been honouring local hockey people during every stop on the Cross-Canada tour.

The tour will wrap up at the end of May.  Hockey Canada’s goal is to engage more than one million fans over the course of the year.
