Voodoos can't contain another Crunch third period surge

COCHRANE, ON - For the second night in a row the Powassan Voodoos were even after 2 periods. For the second night in a row, the hometown Crunch pulled away in the final frame.

COCHRANE, ON - For the second night in a row the Powassan Voodoos were even after 2 periods.   For the second night in a row, the hometown Crunch pulled away in the final frame. 

With the scored tied 2-2 after 2 periods, the Cochrane Crunch scored 4 unanswered third period tallies including a pair less than 40 seconds apart early in the period. 

Daniel Stagg led the Crunch offence with 3 goals including an empty netter in the dying seconds to secure the win.

Aaron Dart and Jeremy St. Pierre scored for the Voodoos.  Both goals were scored in the second period after the Crunch took a 2-0 lead in the middle frame. 

It was the second straight game for the Voodoos without MVP Steve Harland.  The Voodoos struggled on the PK as the Crunch scored 3 power play goals on 5 opportunities in game 2.  

The Voodoos, who lost game 1 by a score of 7-4 on Friday in Cochrane, are down 2-0 in the NOJHL East Division final heading home.  Game 3 of the best-of-7 series takes place Tuesday, March 31st at the Powassan Sportsplex.  Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
