Canadore College hosted its 46th Annual Athletics Awards Banquet earlier tonight in celebration of excellent sportsmanship.
Elite student athletes, coaches, College employees and Canadore Alumni Board members attended the event highlighting the 2014-2015 season.
“To be a Panther, you have to excel under pressure, thrive on competitiveness and strive for excellence,” said Linda Turcotte, Canadore College’s Athletic Director.
“Each and every one of our athletes is extremely dedicated to their sport and their studies, which can be very demanding. Tonight is all about rewarding and recognizing these remarkable achievements.”
Canadore is very proud of its focus towards student athletes.
This year, 17 student athletes were named members of the Panther Honours Club (GPA greater than 3.80). Women’s volleyball middle, Brittany MacComish, also received high honours as a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic All-Canadian Winner (GPA greater than 3.80 combined with OCAA League All-Star status).
“I am incredibly proud of our students’ commitment to the Athletic Academic Program this year,” said Varsity Coordinator Ali Carreau.
“A testament to this fact is the dual recognition they received through the CCAA and OCAA for successful performance both on the court and in class.”
