The North Bay & District Savignac Peewee Major AAA's won both games this weekend against their long-time rival - the Nickel City AAA Sons.  North Bay now leads the best of five 2 games to 0.

Saturday's game was a barn-burner featuring 3 overtime periods.  Stephane Philion was the hero, burying a wrist shot into the net late in the 6th frame.
It finished an exciting game, that featured many chances from both teams.  The winner from Philion was his second goal of the game, with Ethan Masson scoring a power play marker, and minor Cameron Lemcke finishing a great shift by banging a rebound home.

In Sunday's tilt, the Trappers played a stronger defensive game, winning another tight one, 2 to 1.  Jesse Kirkby and Joe Jordan handled the scoring.

The goaltending tandem of Reece Proulx and Cailen Hanzlik continued their stellar play, each winning a game.  The Trappers finished in first place in the NOHLAAA this year, and both goalies finished with 1.67 goals against average to lead the league.  Jack Stockfish and Nat Lalonde finished first and second in league scoring, and the defence squad, led the league as well, allowing only 51 goals all year.  Pacey Schlueting, Eric Lafontaine, Cole Goode, minor Ethan Martineau and Brody Belanger on defense provide the cornerstone of the team.

The North Bay squad swept their first round opponent, the Sudbury Wolves in three games.  Game 3 of the finals, takes place this Saturday afternoon in Garson.  The winner of the final series, gets a birth in the Ontario Provincial Championships, which only takes place in major years.
