Playoff Preview this afternoon at Memorial Gardens

With the third seed playoff spot in the OHL Eastern Conference secured, there isn't much for the Battalion to play for Sunday afternoon as the Kingston Frontenacs visit Memorial Gardens to end the regular season.

With the third seed playoff spot in the OHL Eastern Conference secured, there isn't much for the Battalion to play for Sunday afternoon as the Kingston Frontenacs visit Memorial Gardens to end the regular season.

However, Sunday will be a preview of the OHL Eastern Conference quarter-final as the third seeded Battalion will face the sixth seeded Frontenacs in the opening round.

Fri., April 3 at North Bay, 7:00 p.m.
Sun., April 5 at Kingston, 2:00 p.m.

The Fronts are led by a lethal scoring line made up of Team Canada World Jr Gold Medallist Lawson Crouse, Spencer Watson and Sam Bennett.  Bennett, has been on fire since returning from the Calgary Flames in February.  The 4th pick overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft had missed the entire season after having shoulder surgery.

Bennett has 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in only 11 games since his return.

The Battalion got a feel for Bennett and the much improved Fronts when they were blanked 6-0 in Kingston last Saturday.

However, since then the Troops have pulled off three straight wins heading into Sunday's regular season finale.

Individual races

Michael Amadio can finish off the year as the Battalion top point-getter.  The Soo product has 68 points, which is two up on his linemate Nick Paul who has 66 points.

Nick Paul will lead the Battalion in scoring with 37 goals.  Former Frontenacs forward Ryan Kujawinski has found his scoring touch since the early January trade.  The Iroquois Falls product has netted 19 goals in 33 games with the Troops and 32 overall.
