North Bay players recognized as All-Stars at Canadore

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s and men’s volleyball all-stars were announced this week. Among the elite were four North Bay area players on the Canadore men's and women's volleyball teams.

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s and men’s volleyball all-stars were announced this week.

Among the elite were four North Bay area players on the Canadore men's and women's volleyball teams.  

North Bay's Abby Crown, was named to the OCAA Women's Volleyball East Division All-Rookie team,  Caitlin Hebert, was named to the OCAA East Division Frist Team All-Stars and was second overall in East Division total points per set.  

Kayla Kosturik was named to the East Division Second All-Star team, and Kingston's Brittany McComish was named to the East Division First Team All-Star squad.  

On the Men's side, Hogan Smith, also from North Bay, was named to the Men's East Division First Team All-Star's. 

Panthers' Women's Volleyball coach Stefanie Hancock believes this is exciting news for Canadore as well as the cities successful high school and club programs.  

“The players selected this year have exceeded our expectations both on and off the court with their perseverance and work ethic," she said in a release.  

"These are truly deserved recognitions. Thank you to their past coaching support systems as well as family and friends.”

Canadore Athletic Director Linda Turcotte says its encouraging to see their recruiting efforts lead to All-Star recognition.  

“This is the first time that Canadore College’s Women’s Volleyball has been represented at the OCAA awards banquet by four all-stars," stated Turcotte in a release.   

"I would like to personally congratulate each all-star for their exceptional achievements and leadership in their respective sport.”
