North Bay's Dominique Bouchard has been ranked number 2 in the world by FINA in the women's 200-meter backstroke.

The impressive ranking of the swimmer who is training at the University of Missouri while doing her Post Graduate, comes after a first place finish at a swim meet in Orlando, Florida in mid February.

The ranking puts her 14 spots ahead of former 2012 Canadian Olympian Hilary Caldwell.

"At this point I'm focussing on the Canadian trials in April," said Bouchard after the victory.

"I've gained a lot of confidence on my training this season and I am taking ownership of my training," she said.

The former North Bay Y Titans swimmer will take part in the Canadian trials at the Toronto Pan-Am Sports Complex on April 1st to 4th, where Swimming Canada will select who will compete for the Nation at the Pan-Am games July 10th in Toronto and the FINA World Championships which take place July 24th in Kazan, Russia.

Bouchard is also ranked #5 in the world in the 100-meter backstroke.
