The North Bay & District Midget AAA Trappers pulled out the  4–2 victory Wednesday night over the visiting Nickel City Sons.

Jacob Delisle got the eventual winner 5 minutes into the 3rd on a strong shorthanded forecheck.

Devyn Martel with 2, Jack Drinkwalter with one and league leading points man Jeff Jordan finished with 2 assists.

Colton Point held the fort for the Trappers, while Joel Grandbois and Connor Tessier got the markers for the Sons.

"The Sons were coming in shorthanded and had a rough 3 game road trip up north this past weekend, so the plan was to jump on them right away & keep it going," said Trappers Head Coach Mike Reise.

"We tried to do that when we were up last weekend with New Liskeard , but couldn’t sustain it. We asked the kids to learn from that, come out & play 3 full periods. We also got a strong showing from our D core, led by Robert Buckley and that was a major difference tonight as well.

"Alec St George was spectacular in net for the visitors, he was being cheered on by his old Jr teammates, with the Mattawa Blackhawks in the stands.  At the other end, saw the Trappers alumni, now playing for the Powassan Voodoos, cheering on the home team. St George made a couple highlight reel saves on Jordan in particular to keep it close," said Reise.

The win puts the Trappers 2 points up on Timmins for 5th place in the standings and 3 points behind the Sons for 4th and home ice advantage in the first round of playoffs.

The Trappers travel up Highway 11 for a rematch to visit the league leading New Liskeard Cubs , Game time is Friday night @ 8:00 p.m.

The Trappers last home game of the season goes Thursday, February 5th,  with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in town.

Game time is 7:20 p.m. at West Ferris arena.
