Voodoos Harland gets National Recognition

The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Steve Harland of the Powassan Voodoos has been named the CJHL’s Gongshow Gear second star of the month for his on-ice efforts in November.

The rookie forward was earlier selected the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Gongshow Gear player of the month for November.

Harland earned the CJHL and NOJHL accolades for being instrumental offensively for the first-year Voodoos last month in each of his seven games played. 

The 18-year-old Scarborough, Ont., product scored at least one goal in each of his seven contests played and also registered an assist in every match-up as well. 

In all he totaled 10 tallies and seven helpers in November having multiple-point nights in each game he skated in.  

Harland, a sixth round pick, 104th overall, of the North Bay Battalion in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, currently leads the Voodoos in points with 40 in 25 outings and is also fourth in NOJHL scoring. 

Alex Tonge of the Kingston Voyageurs (OJHL) was named the CJHL’s first star for November after amassing 20 points in eight games, including 11 tallies last month.

Another forward in Lucas Batt of the Amherst Ramblers (MHL) was tabbed as the third star in the CJHL picking up 10 markers and nine helpers in nine contests. 

Honourable Mention for the CJHL 3 Stars went to Marc-Anthony Therrien, Princeville Titan (QJHL); Alex Plevy, Brooks Bandits (AJHL); Evan Erickson, Minnesota Iron Rangers (SIJHL) and Robert Michel, Ottawa Jr. A Senators (CCHL).
