The Algonquin Barons have brought the Tomahawk title back to North Bay.
Tournament MVP Zach Villeneuve scored 16 points to lead the Algonquin Barons to a 48-45 victory over Collingwood Collegiate in the final of the senior Tomahawk Saturday night at Chippewa Secondary. Tournament all stars Jim Hegyi and Braeden Villeneuve added nine points each for the champion Barons.
Thirty two senior and 32 junior teams completed in 112 basketball games in two days making the Tomahawk the largest high school tournament in the country.
The original founder of the tournament Art Gabor was on hand with tournament convenor to watch the games and hand out the awards for the 57th time.
In junior Collingwood Collegiate played a great game defeating the Timmins High Blues 52-35 behind a 23 point performance by tournament MVP Lyle Porter of Collingwood.
