In what was by far their best game – even though it’s only three games in – the Lakers came up short against Toronto Friday night.

The Lakers held a lead after the first quarter and at the half, but were outscored 43-29 in the second half and eventually lost 72-59.

Despite the setback, the Lakers proved they would be competitive this year and took a step in the right direction.

Jordon Campbell and Marcus Lewis led the attack with 14 points each, while Marcos Clennon added 10 points for Nipissing.

They are back in action Saturday night against the Ryerson Rams.

Laker Women humbled 

The Lakers weren’t able to find the win column just yet, as they fell 73-23 to the Toronto Varsity Blues Friday night.

The Lakers hung tough in the first half, but the Blues proved to be a deeper team and ran away with the win in the second half.

Claire Abbott led the Lakers in scoring with 11 points and Maeve Therriault chipped in with six.

The Lakers are back in action tomorrow night when they face the Ryerson Rams.
