The West Ferris Junior Trojan football team finished the regular season at 6-1 with a 27-7 win over the Algonquin Barons.
Johnny Warren scored his ninth touchdown on a pass from Mason McGriskin in the first quarter. Matt Fairbarn converted the single.
The Barons answered back on a sweep on their next possession around the left end and converted to tie the score at 7s.
Travis green scored the Trojan's second on a sweep around the left end. Matt Fairbarn missed the extra point try. Troajns 13 Barons 7.
Cam Walters scored on Mason McGriskin's second passing touchdown and also scored on a two point conversion to make the score 21 - 7 at the half.
The second half scoring was provided by the Trojan's Johnny Warren on a pass from Mason McGriskin, McGriskin's third of the game.
The Barons play in the quarter finals on Tuesday and the Trojans have a bye intol the semi-finals on Sat. Nov. 8th at Omischl Field. Time TBD.
PATRIOTES VICTORIOUS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The Franco-Cité Patriotes closed out the regular season on a winning note with a 31-0 victory over the visiting Widdifield Wildcats in NDA junior football action on Thursday afternoon.
Anthony St-Jean paced the Patriotes offense with three touchdowns while Zacharie Lavigne and Tristan Lachance had one each. St-Jean also added a convert to round out the scoring while the defense held the Wildcats in check.
With the win, the Patriotes (5-2) clinched second spot in the regular season standings and earn a bye to the semi-final. They will host a semi-final at le CAP in Sturgeon Falls on Saturday November 8th at 1pm. The Wildcats will play a quarter-final game on Tuesday with the winner moving on to the semi-finals.
