Raiders open NDA hockey season with a win

The Chippewa Raiders took to the ice Wednesday night opening the NDA hockey season with a 3-1 victory over the Franco-Cite Patriotes at Memorial Gardens. The Raiders held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first on goals by Alex Hurley and Tyler Winrow.

The Raiders held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first on goals by Alex Hurley and Tyler Winrow. 

Franco-Cite had the lone marker in the second period on a power play goal by Lex Brazeau cutting the lead to 2-1. 

The third period was another tightly played period with Winrow cashing in with his second of the game on the Raider power play.

Last years league MVP, Cole Leon was solid in goal for Chippewa turning aside 14 of 15 shots in the victory.
