Battalion rebound with convincing road win over IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, ON - The North Bay Battalion bounced back after a hard fought 2-1 loss to the Oshawa Generals at home with a convincing 6-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs in St. Catharines on Friday night.

ST. CATHARINES, ON - The North Bay Battalion bounced back after a hard fought 2-1 loss to the Oshawa Generals at home with a convincing 6-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs in St. Catharines on Friday night. 

Zach Bratina got the Battalion on the board at 6:18 of the opening frame.  Anthony DeFruscia got the equalizer less than 4 minutes later.   

Nick Paul put the Battalion up 2-1 with a goal at 19:46 of the first. 

Jared Steege extended the Battalion lead to 3-1 with the only goal of the middle frame. 

In the 3rd period, the Battalion scored 3 times in a 9 minute span of the period to break the game open.  Alex Henriksson scored twice with David Sherman getting his first OHL goal. 

Hayden McCool scored the other IceDogs goal at 16:47 of the 3rd period. 

Jake Smith got the victory in goal turning away 27 of the 29 shots he faced.  

The win improves the Battalion record to 5-2-3-0 on the season, sitting 2 points back of the Barrie Colts for top spot in the Central Division. 

Speaking of the Colts, the Battalion head north to face their Central Division Rivals Saturday night in Barrie.   Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Barrie Molson Centre.
