SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Joe Whittet scored two power play goals to lead the North Bay & District Midget AAA Trappers to a 6-2 win over the Soo Thunderbirds in Great North Midget League action Saturday night.
Jeff Jordan contributed with 1 goal and 4 assists in the win which improves the Trappers record to 3-2 on the season.
Finn Seguin, Dawson Meecham, and Conor Eastaugh had the other Trappers goals.
Ryan Mulligan and Matt Capisciotio scored for the T-Birds.
The two teams meet up for a matinee on Sunday afternoon in Sault Ste. Marie.
It's the first meeting between the Soo and North Bay since the North Stars took a leave of abscense from the Great North Midget League last year.
The team was reinstated under the ownership of the Soo Thunderbirds Junior A Hockey Club.
