SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - Caleb Boman's blast that beat Jack Ondrovic upstairs was the difference maker as the Sault Ste. Marie Thunderbirds held on for a 4-2 win over the visiting Powassan Voodoos at the John Rhodes Community Centre Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams exchanged 5 goals.  With the score 2-1, Brett Lepisto notched his first regular season NOJHL goal on a Voodoos power play at 13:07 of the 2nd.  However, less than 30 seconds after that, Boman put the T-Birds up for good beating Ondrovic at 13:33 to give them a 3-2 lead after 2 periods of play.

Despite being outshot 15-8, the Soo scored the only goal of the final frame as Jaren Bellini  pulled the trigger at 12:36 to make it 4-2.

Michael Silveri opened the scoring for the Voodoos early in the second period as he converted on a nice face-off win by Steven Harland to give the visitors a 1-0 at 2:58.

Owen Headrick and Nathan Hebert scored just over 5 minutes apart to give the home side its first lead of the game.

The Voodoos record falls to 1-3-0-1 on the season while the T-Birds improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Voodoos are back in action on Saturday night looking for win number 2 as they travel to Blind River to take on the winless Beavers.
