NDA Jr. Football - Pats and Bears in tight battle

The Franco-Cité Patriotes kicked off their NDA junior football season with a 9-8 victory over the St Joseph Scollard Hall Bears on Thursday afternoon in North Bay. The Patriotes took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a rouge by Anthony St-Jean.

The Patriotes took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a rouge by Anthony St-Jean.  Franco-Cité added to their lead on a Tristan Lachance one yard plunge into the end zone.  Lachance then passed off to Zacharie Lavigne to add a two point convert to take a 9-0 lead. 

The Bears answered late in the fourth quarter with a Joe Whittet touchdown followed by Griffin Goulais two point convert.  The Patriotes defense then held off the Bears to seal the victory.

Trojans blast Wildcats

The Trojan junior football team opened their season with a 32 to 7 victory over the Widdifield Wildcats.

Johnny Warren opened the scoring in the first quarter with a catch and scamper into the end zone.

Warren struck again on a similar play in the second quarter to increase the lead to 12-0.

The Wildcats Colson Marshall scored out of the double wing and Bade Lennart added the convert to cut the Trojan's lead to 12-7.

The second half was all Trojans as Reece Brown, Riley Bullett, and Cam Walters each scored majors.

The Trojan's starting grade 9 quarterback, Mason McGriskin, threw for four touchdowns in the game.
