Lakers Men and Women hit the ice

The Nipissing Lakers Men's and Women's Varsity Hockey teams took to the ice for their first pre-season action on the weekend.

The Nipissing Lakers Men's and Women's Varsity Hockey teams took to the ice for their first pre-season action on the weekend. 

The men started things off Saturday as they travelled to Pembroke to take on the Carleton Ravens, who blanked the Lakers squad 5-0. 

The Lakers came back home Sunday afternoon and rebounded with a 4-3 victory at Memorial Gardens.   

In Women's Varsity hockey action the Lakers opened at home Friday with a 3-0 win over York. Bronwyn Bolduc led the Lakers offence with 2 goals.  Brittney Cosmo had the other goal for the Lakers.  Sabrina Picard and Micaela Stutzki shared the shutout.  

The Lakers then hit the road and still came up with a W as they beat York 4-1.  Lexi Debol, Alexane Papineau, Brittany Crago, and Bolduc shared in the scoring Sunday.
