The North Bay & District Midget AAA Trappers winning streak came to an abrupt halt in Sudbury on Wednesday night, at the hands of the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves who dumped the Trappers 9-3.

After a pair of shutout victories over Kapuskasing on the weekend, the Trappers were unable to play the same game on the bigger ice surface at Countryside arena.

"We held our own for the first period, I thought we contained them and kept them to the outside, which is what we wanted to do", commented Trappers Head Coach Mike Reise.

The Trappers ran into penalty trouble in the second period that led to 5 power play goals for the Wolves.

"Our lack of discipline hurt us, that plus getting caught running around, chasing the play," said Reise.

"It's something the coaching staff plans to address before the second part of the home and home next Thursday night 7:20 p.m. at West Ferris arena."

Owen Fransen and Calvin Naveau led the Wolves with 2 goals each.

Jeff Jordan, Garrett Bosum and Conor Eastaugh replied for the Trappers.

Brendan Dale got his first Great North Midget League start and was replaced in the third period by affiliate netminder Scott Bazinet.  Trappers goalie Colton Point, who was in goal for the two shutouts on the weekend, missed the game due to an injury.

“Brendan got thrown into the fire right away, which is something he wanted," he said about Dale.

"He didn’t have lots of help at certain points, but held in there. “
