Former North Bay Stingers hurler Jake Tougas, a pitcher at Wilfrid Laurier University earned his first win as a Golden Hawk defeating Humber 4-3 in exhibition play last Friday.

The third year player, who also pitched for the West Ferris Trojans, has been playing the past 3 years for Laurier earning more playing time each year.

In the game Tougas came in the Top of the 5th inning with the score tied at 2-2 and successfully pitched himself out of a base loaded jam by striking out 2 Humber batters.

He ended up with 4 strikeouts in just two innings pitched.

Laurier then took the lead in the bottom of the inning making Tougas the pitcher of record.

Laurier is the defending OUA Champion, and should be a contender again this fall.

After an 9 game pre-season which saw Tougas made successful appearances in four of them the Hawks begin league play as they host Western and Ryerson over the weekend in Waterloo
