Voodoos dumped by Cochrane Crunch in New Liskeard

NEW LISKEARD, ON - The venue was different but the Crunch were still showing off their offensive flair against the Powassan Voodoos, as the Crunch defeated the Powassan squad 7-1 on Saturday night in NOJHL pre-season action at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena.  

The first period was the key for the Crunch as they scored 4 times to take a 4-1 lead into the locker room at the end of hte first period.  

Jake Gevaart and Dustin Cordiero scored just over a minute a part around the 14 minute mark of the opening frame to give the Crunch a 2-0.  

Andrew DeMarco slipped a rebound past Crunch netminder Troy Paquette.   

Jason Berube and Reed Gregory countered with goals late in the first period.   

Cody Gratton and Berube added to the lead in the second period for the Crunch.  

Gratton added his second of the game for the Crunch's second power play goal of the contest, which was the only goal recorded in the final frame.   

For the Crunch, they finish the pre-season with an impressive 4-0 record including a pair of wins over the Mattawa Blackhawks and 2 victories over the Voodoos this week.  

The loss drops the Voodoos record to 0-2 in the pre-season. 

The Voodoos are back in action on Sunday, August 31st as they host the visiting Blind River Beavers.  Puck drop is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex.
