Changes continue for the Mattawa Blackhawks.

On Thursday, Zane Neily resigned as head coach of the NOJHL franchise.

"Zane has stepped down as head coach effective immediately," General Manager and Owner David Beauchamp said in a statement Thursday night.

"We wish Zane Nothing but the best, Zane wishes to stay closer to his family."

Last year the Brantford, Ontario native led a young North Bay Jr. Trappers team to 18 wins in 56 games during a season where the team relocated to Mattawa in February.

In late June the former Jr. Trappers franchise added former minor professional goaltender and New Jersey Native Erik Swanick as its new associate coach.

This week the Blackhawks team also named returning players Jake Ibbitson, Henry Yawit, Christian Sgroi and CJ Nicholson as assistant captains for the upcoming NOJHL season.

The team expects to name the new head coach early next week.
