The inaugural season for Nipissing Lakers Basketball is just around the corner and there is some exciting news for all the fans out there. Both the men’s – led by Chris Cheng – and the women’s – led by Marg Jones – programs, as well as Lakers Athletics are pleased to announce their Lakers Basketball Club as well as season ticket sales are now available.
“We want to hit the court running this year with our basketball programs and both the Lakers Basketball Club and the season’s ticket packages are a great start,” said Lakers Athletic Director Vito Castiglione.
“Our coaches have been hard at work recruiting and preparing and this is just another way they can build their programs.”
Since the announcement of both programs, Nipissing University and the Lakers have been busy preparing for the arrival of the coaches, student-athletes as well as the fans that are going to be a big part of the success of the teams.
Men’s Head Coach Chris Cheng knows how important it will be to have the entire university and community behind his team and his players are looking forward to representing both this season.
“We want to be a team that Lakers Athletics, Nipissing University and the city of North Bay can be proud of,” Cheng said. “We have worked hard this off-season and brought in players we feel will best represent what our values are as a program and now it’s time to show off our product.”
Jones, who will lead the women’s team, is equally excited about how the packages that are in place are going to support the newly formed programs.
“We feel that if the players are supported and feel welcome, they are going to perform better both on the court and in the classroom,” she said.
“While the financial support can’t be overlooked, a full gym is going to be a great sight for everyone when we begin the season in November.”
The Lakers Basketball Club consists of four different packages that are available for purchase.
There is a Corporate Sponsor package, a Game Sponsor Package, the 6th Man Club Package and the basic Season’s Tickets Package, all of which contain different benefits and perks.
On top of that, the regular season schedule is now available so you can mark down all the games on your calendar and plan your fall and winter accordingly.
