Make it a Date To Skate takes over the Gardens this weekendWednesday, February 27, 2013 by: Chris DawsonThe North Bay Figure Skating Club (NBFSC) welcomes over 270 figure skaters, from across Ontario and Quebec ranging in age from 8 to 20, who are participating in this annual invitational figure skating competition.
There will be Introductory through to Gold competitors (STARSkate) and pre-Juvenile U11 through to Senior competitors (Competitive) skating in a multitude of events, promising a busy weekend of skating.
Previous competitions have hosted Canadian champions and World Champions and this year we expect to see some of Canada’s up and coming stars in the competitive events.
Some of the best of Canada’s coaches will also be in attendance including Doug Haw and Josee Chouinard.
Twenty local North Bay skaters will be competing in STARskate and Competitive events.
The NBFSC is a volunteer driven, non profit organization that has been offering skating lessons since the early 1940's.
The organization is dedicated to providing opportunities for persons of a range of age and ability to participate in skating throughout their lifetime for fun, fitness and/or achievement.
The organization believes they are able to accomplish this through quality programming and exciting events such as ”Make it a Date to Skate."
Public Admissions are $10 for a weekend pass, Adult day pass $5, Seniors/Students day pass $4 and children 12 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult.
