SUDBURY, ON - The North Bay Midget C Ice Boltz skated to gold this past weekend in the Sudbury Snowflake Challenge.

The girls started the tournament with a tough loss to a fast skating Sudbury Lady Wolves team.

The girls outshot the wolves and much of the play was in the Sudbury end but the puck would not go in and Wolves took the contest 2-0.

The second game of tournament the Ice Boltz came out hard from the very first shift against the Timmins Midget C team.

The Ice Boltz scored early and kept pressure on for the complete game and came away with a 4-0 win.

In the Ice Boltz third game the girls were facing a strong Brampton Canadettes Midget B team.

The game was physical and fast paced as both teams came out hard.

Strong defensive play by both teams and solid goaltending kept the game close but the Ice Boltz were able score first and kept the Brampton team off balance the rest of the way as they took game 1-0.

In the semi-final the Ice Boltz faced the Timmins team once again and both teams came out very physical with some great passing and several scoring chances by both teams.

Several penalties by both teams slowed the pace but the Ice Boltz scored in second period to take the lead and held on to defeat the Timmins team 1-0.

In the final the Ice Boltz faced the Chapleau Chicks Midget C team for the first time this year.

The Ice Boltz were ready and came out of the gate hard and fast.

Several chances and solid play by the forwards and defense kept the pressure on the Chapleau team but the puck would not go in.

The team kept on the pressure in second half of game and puck finally went in to put the Ice Boltz ahead and the team skated away with the gold by a score of 4-0.
