Lakers vs. Redmen playoff tickets on sale

Tuesday, February 12, 2013   by: Chris DawsonExciting and fast-paced OUA hockey playoffs are here and tickets are on sale now for the Lakers first-round playoff action versus McGill.

The Lakers play host to the McGill Redmen on Wednesday, February 13, at 7 p.m. in the first game of the best-two-out-of-three series.

The Lakers will head to Montreal for game two on Saturday, February 16th and game three, if necessary, on Sunday, February 17th.

First-round playoff ticket prices are the same as regular season games, Adults: $12.50; Seniors (65+) and Student: $8.75; and Children $6.50.

For season ticket holders, the first playoff game is included in their package. Tickets are available at the Memorial Gardens box office.

Anticipation and excitement are running high for this series.

The last time the Lakers faced McGill, just over one week ago, the Lakers won in a dramatic shootout finish that stretched to 16 different shooters.

By all accounts it was one of the best games witnessed on Memorial Gardens ice in years as the Lakers broke a 11-game winless string against the defending CIS Hockey Champions.

Back on November 24, McGill defeated the Lakers 4-3 on a late third-period goal.

“There’s no question that McGill is a formidable opponent, but we know if we play the way we are capable of, we can beat them," said Lakers head coach, Mike McParland.

“Every time we played them this year, it was a close, hard-fought battle. We know what to expect from them, they’re fast and skilled and they capitalize on mistakes. We’re going to have to play smart, try to limit their chances and get some traffic in front of the net. We are going into this series with confidence that we can get the job done.”

The Lakers finished the regular season in sixth place with a 14-12-2 record. McGill finished in third place with a 17-7-4 record.
